“I started The Local Nashville to create a space where people I knew in the music industry could have a place to play and showcase their music,” said Reid. “I thought it was important to create a casual space where people can hangout and play music.”

Reid started his career at age 14 working as a dishwasher at a music venue. Over the years he has worked at many different restaurants and music venues. Reid moved to Nashville 31 years ago, but has slowly seen the small restaurants and bars with performance spaces disappear in favor of large clubs and corporate-owned chains. Now, he plans to bring his small business’ concept to Hendersonville’s The Streets of Indian Lake

“I’ve lived here for 25 years, and there has never been a music venue like this in the Hendersonville area,” said Reid. “This has historically been a family-centric community, but over the last eight years I’ve seen a change with younger generations moving here. People who used to live in Nashville have been moving out to this area so I wanted to bring this concept out here as well.”

According to Reid, The Local Hendersonville’s construction began last September. Currently, he and his team are waiting on inspections and then liquor license approvals.

The Local Hendersonville aims to open sometime in July.
